The story

Andrea Larossa: Michelin-Starred Italian Contemporary Dining in Turin

A Chef’s Journey to Turin

Andrea Larossa was born in Verbania on Lake Maggiore in 1980, raised between the culinary traditions of his mother’s Lazio and his father’s Basilicata. After discovering his passion for cooking during military service, he trained in professional kitchens, including a stint with Carlo Cracco in Milan and at Locanda del Pilone in Alba, where he absorbed both Langarola traditions and Japanese techniques. In 2014, he opened his own restaurant in Alba, naming it after himself—a deliberate choice, like the artisans of old, to put his name on the line. Just two years after entering the Michelin guide, he earned his first star in 2018.

A New Home on the Turin Hillside

In 2021, Larossa and his wife Patrizia Cappellaro—who runs the dining room and curates the wine list—relocated the restaurant to Via Sabaudia 4 in Turin, at the foot of the city’s historic hill. The space is bright and open, with a visible kitchen, a vintage 1970s-inspired dining room, and a welcoming bar corner. The atmosphere balances elegance with familiarity: warm, convivial, and unmistakably personal.

Seasonal, Contemporary Italian Cuisine

Larossa’s cooking is rooted in tradition but unafraid to innovate. His tasting menus—such as the “Larossa Summer” and “Sensazioni” paths—are served in sharing style for the whole table. Dishes like “Not a Vitello Tonnato” (a playful reimagining of the Piedmontese classic), “Takoyaki alla Milanese,” and “Ravioli d’Anatra al Curry Madras” show his creative range. The cuisine is deeply seasonal and territorial, drawing on the flavours of Piedmont and the Sabauda heritage. The Michelin star, reconfirmed in 2023 and again in 2026, reflects his consistent commitment to high-quality, refined cooking.

A Shared Vision

Patrizia Cappellaro’s presence is integral: she leads the front-of-house with grace and selects wines that complement each course. Together, they have created a restaurant where guests feel at home—a place where “raffinatezza, gusto e passione” (refinement, taste, and passion) are not just words but the daily reality.
