The story
In the spring of 1981, Nicoletta Ceola and Silvano Lazzari took over a historic cicchetteria in Venice’s Cannaregio district. Today, their children Paolo and Laura run the show, with the second and third generations working side by side. That continuity gives Vini da Gigio a rare warmth — a place where the enthusiasm for hospitality and the love for Venice and its territory have never faded.
The menu is rooted in Venetian tradition, with the lagoon as its star. Most of the fish and vegetables come from small local suppliers who work at km0, follow the seasons, and share the restaurant’s concern for the city’s fragile ecosystem. The result is honest, precise cooking that lets the ingredients speak.
Over four decades, the family has built a cellar that is both vast and deep — one of the largest in the city. It spans Italian and international bottles with serious vintage depth, yet remains approachable for newcomers and genuinely exciting for enthusiasts. A wide selection is always available by the glass.
The restaurant’s consistent quality and dedication have earned it a Michelin Recommended distinction, a recognition that aligns with the quiet excellence you find at every table.
