The story
San Domenico sits on the Costa degli Dei, the “Coast of the Gods” in Calabria, a stretch of Tyrrhenian shoreline that seems to renew itself with every wave. The restaurant’s philosophy is one of respect, creativity and the enhancement of raw materials – a contemporary approach rooted in the sea that surrounds it. The dining room and terrace offer outdoor seating, and the atmosphere is one of calm, fine-dining ease.
Chef Bruno Tassone’s connection to cooking began in childhood. “I remember very well Sunday mornings with my hands in the dough or preparing sweets, always together with my mother,” he recalls. “I am sure that it was she who passed on to me the love for cooking.” That early, domestic spark evolved into a career that now defines San Domenico’s contemporary seafood cuisine.
The kitchen offers two tasting menus, both described as “free expression” of the chef. The four-course dégustation (€65) moves from antipasto to primo, secondo and dolce. The six-course version (€80) expands to two antipasti, two primi, a second course and dessert. All tastings are the same for every guest at the table, and the chef asks for any intolerances or disliked ingredients beforehand. Seasonal à la carte dishes are also available, changing with the season.
San Domenico’s careful, ingredient-driven cooking has earned it a Michelin Recommended distinction for 2026. The award recognises the restaurant’s commitment to quality and its ability to let the flavours of the Calabrian coast speak – without fuss, and with a clear, contemporary voice.
