Kushikatsu Gojoya, Osaka: Michelin Bib Gourmand Kushiage

Kushikatsu Gojoya: Creative Kushiage in Osaka

At Kushikatsu Gojoya, the art of kushiage—deep-fried skewers—is taken in a thoroughly original direction. The restaurant has earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand for four consecutive years (2024–2026), a recognition that speaks to its consistently high-quality cooking at an approachable price point.

The menu changes with the seasons, offering over 300 varieties of creative skewers throughout the year. Diners can choose from an omakase stop course, where the kitchen sends out a parade of seasonal skewers until you say when. Recent offerings have included a Peking duck-style choux salé, a chestnut and plum mont blanc, and a sandfish and autumn eggplant mille-feuille. The cooking is precise, the combinations inventive, and the atmosphere casual.

The space is modest, with a 12-seat counter and a few tables, making for an intimate experience. The beverage list is a serious one: about 25 white and 25 red wines from France, Italy, Japan, and the New World, all priced at a flat 3,800 yen per bottle. The staff will help you choose a bottle to match your skewers.

Kushikatsu Gojoya is located near Tenmabashi Station, a short walk from the heart of Osaka. It is open for dinner from 17:00, closed Sundays and public holidays.
