The story
In the heart of Osaka’s Kitashinchi district, LES SOUVENIRS offers a refined take on French cuisine that is rooted in the flavors of the South of France yet unmistakably Japanese. The restaurant’s approach is described as “South France x Japanese essence,” a philosophy that runs through every dish on the menu.
Chef Konishi sources ingredients with clear intention. The kitchen uses lamb from Hokkaido, rare short-horn and Japanese beef, and grass-fed butter from Nakazono Farm. Particularly notable is the cheese program: the restaurant works with Chiba-based Sen Cheese Workshop, whose award-winning natural cheeses are served here—a rare find in western Japan.
The dining experience is supported by a thoughtful setting. A comfortable counter is ideal for dates, while a private room accommodates up to ten guests for business meals or celebrations. The tableware comes from Japanese ceramic artists, and the space features artwork by Mari Kita and Wataru Hatano, adding a layer of quiet craft to the meal.
A signature dish is the herb-roasted lobster, and the grilled sea bream with sansai, bamboo shoots, and risotto finished with green seaweed shows the kitchen’s seasonal instincts. The wine list is substantial, with thoughtful pairings available by the glass or bottle.
LES SOUVENIRS has earned a place in the Michelin Guide, a recognition that speaks to the precision and care in Chef Konishi’s cooking. With lunch and dinner service, it is a destination for those who appreciate French food shaped by Japanese ingredients and sensibility.
