The story
In the quiet streets of Nishi-ku, Osaka, LOUISE opened its doors on August 15, 2019. From the start, chef Yannick Raopnu and owner-sommelière Miki Tanaka set out to create something immediate and personal. The restaurant revolves around an open kitchen that fills the room with energy – the sounds, the aromas, the focused movements of the team. It is a space that feels both alive and unhurried, where guests can watch their French cuisine being composed just metres away.
LOUISE offers several dinner courses, each built around seasonal ingredients. The Menu Saison (16,000 yen) is a light, seasonal affair. The Menu LOUISE (22,000 yen) adds more technique and depth, requiring three days’ notice. For those seeking something singular, the Menu Composition (35,000 yen) is exactly what the name suggests: a composition. You tell the chef your preferences – a remembered dish, a specific ingredient, or simply a number of courses – and he designs a bespoke sequence. It is an approach that rewards curiosity and trust, and it is limited to French cuisine by the chef’s own choice.
Lunch is offered as well, with the Menu Déjeuner (12,000 yen) and a Friday‑Saturday‑only Menu Saison. The wine list, curated by Tanaka, is a point of pride, and the counter dining setting invites conversation with the team.
LOUISE’s commitment to precise, ingredient‑driven French cuisine earned it a Michelin Recommended nod for 2026. But the restaurant’s real draw is the atmosphere: a fine dining experience that feels open rather than distant. Whether you come for a quiet lunch or an evening built around your own culinary wishes, the warmth of the welcome remains the same.
