The story
Oudon Yomogi is the project of the proprietress of “Oryori Miyamoto,” a restaurant where she honed the craft of kaiseki cuisine—and above all, the art of dashi. Her vision was to bring Osaka’s deep dashi culture to a more intimate, everyday setting without compromising on elegance. The result is an udon restaurant that feels more like a quiet sanctuary: white-wood counter, soft light, and the pure aroma of ichiban-dashi in the air.
The Michelin Bib Gourmand 2026 award recognizes the exceptional quality and value here. It’s a fitting nod to a place that treats udon with the same reverence as a kaiseki course.
The soul of the kitchen is a broth made from ma-konbu kelp and dried mackerel and sardine, seasoned only with soy sauce. This clear golden dashi is the “first extract,” clean and deeply layered. The house-made udon is smooth and bouncy, designed to fuse with the broth in a single, harmonious slurp. The restaurant describes it as “the elegance of ichiban-dashi, embraced by a timeless serenity.”
Dinner here follows one of two omakase courses, both built around seasonal ingredients and the dashi. Course 1 balances appetizer, hassun (seasonal delicacies), sashimi, a grilled or fried dish, a simmered pot, udon (choice available), and dessert. Course 2 is more indulgent, featuring rarer seasonal treasures. The udon itself can be selected to match the day’s broth.
The space seats eighteen, with a private room available for small groups. Every detail—from the lacquerware to the photography on the walls—reflects the proprietress’s kaiseki-trained eye. Oudon Yomogi is a place to experience udon not as fast food, but as quiet luxury.
