The story
In the Konohana ward of Osaka, Sakamoto Sushi serves a focused omakase experience built around classic Japanese techniques. The counter dining setting keeps the attention on the chef’s work, from appetizer and sashimi through grilled dishes, chawanmushi, and nigiri. Two omakase courses are available: one at ¥8,800 and a more substantial version at ¥11,000 that adds dessert and fifteen pieces of nigiri.
The approach is straightforward and respectful of ingredients. There are no unnecessary flourishes—just careful preparation and a clear progression of flavors. Guests are asked to avoid strong perfumes or scented hair products, a sign of how seriously the house takes the purity of the dining experience. Children are welcome, and the restaurant accommodates strollers for families with young children.
Sakamoto Sushi has earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand for 2026, a recognition that highlights good quality, good value cooking. It’s a well-earned nod for a restaurant that delivers a proper omakase without pretense or inflated pricing.
Reservations open every two months, available from 9:00 PM on the 20th of each odd-numbered month. Payment is by cash or PayPay only. The restaurant asks guests to be mindful of other diners and staff when taking photos or videos.
