The story
At AMOUR, chef Yusuke Goto expresses what he calls “Japanese French” – a cuisine that begins with exceptional Japanese ingredients and is elevated through classical French dexterity. The restaurant, open since 2012 in the Ebisu-Hiroo area of Tokyo, has earned a Michelin Recommended distinction for its sincere, individual approach. Goto’s cooking is rooted in the spirit of omotenashi: a quiet, attentive hospitality that runs through every dish, from the seasonal produce to the unseen details of preparation.
The interior offers three distinct settings: a 14-seat dining room, an intimate salon for up to eight, and a four-seat chef’s table where guests can watch Goto at work. The dress code is smart casual, and the atmosphere is unhurried – a place where time seems to slow. Dishes change with the seasons, but examples from the kitchen include hairy crab with cauliflower and kelp, or monkfish with Saikyo miso and beurre blanc. Each plate balances the precision of French technique with the natural clarity of Japanese flavours.
AMOUR continues to evolve. In 2026, the restaurant announced it will relocate from its current address, with a new location to be announced. Until the end of July 2026, guests can still experience Goto’s singular vision in the original space – a quiet, confident restaurant that has quietly become one of Tokyo’s most respected Japanese-French destinations.
