The story
APICIUS brings classic French cuisine to a quiet corner of Yurakucho, just steps from the Imperial Palace gardens. The name nods to the ancient Roman gourmet, but the kitchen is firmly rooted in French technique and seasonal ingredients. The restaurant earned a Michelin Recommended distinction in 2026, a testament to its consistent quality and thoughtful approach.
The menu offers a la carte dining alongside a limited lunch course called Déjeuner, served from 11:30 with last orders at 13:00. Dinner runs from 17:30 to 20:00 (last order), allowing for a leisurely evening. Whether you choose a full meal or a single dish, the focus is on precise execution and clean flavours. The restaurant is air-conditioned year-round, making it a comfortable retreat in any season.
Wine plays a central role here. The list is described as “interesting” – expect well-chosen bottles by the glass or a full selection to pair with your meal. The staff are knowledgeable and happy to recommend matches.
APICIUS also operates a small gift shop offering original pound cakes. The dried fruit version soaked in brandy, and a black tea pound cake accented with orange confit, are both priced at 2,700 yen (tax included). Seasonal varieties appear throughout the year. Reservations are recommended if you plan to purchase one.
Open for lunch and dinner, APICIUS is a calm, understated spot for French dining in Tokyo – one that rewards a return visit.
