The story
In the heart of Tokyo’s Otemachi district, CYCLE by Mauro Colagreco translates the name it bears into a living, breathing culinary concept. The restaurant, which earned a Michelin one star in the 2026 guide for its second consecutive year, is built around the idea of perpetual renewal—the cycle of seasons, ingredients, and life itself. It is a place where Contemporary French and Italian cuisine meets a deep respect for the natural world.
The driving force is Mauro Colagreco, the Argentine-born chef whose Menton restaurant Mirazur holds three Michelin stars and was once named the world’s best. At CYCLE, he is joined by head chef Yuhei Miyamoto, who trained under Colagreco at Mirazur and now brings that experience to Tokyo. Together, they craft menus that change with the seasons, each dish a reflection of the plant’s life cycle—from seed to plate.
The restaurant’s ethos is stated plainly: “Everything is a cycle, and we are an integral part of it.” The kitchen works with local producers, grows its own herbs and vegetables, and prioritises ingredients that minimise carbon footprint. Menus aim for zero-waste recipes, and the restaurant supports biodiversity by choosing heirloom varieties. The result is a style of cooking that feels both grounded and inventive—seasonal vegetables, herbs, and Japanese products are treated with the same reverence as the finest proteins.
Guests choose from several courses. At lunch, the Nature menu offers a lighter progression of tapas, three dishes, dessert, and petits fours. For dinner, the Symbiose menu expands to five courses, while the Inspiration menu includes six dishes and two desserts. A vegetarian option is available on request. The wine pairings are handled by a team that includes a biology specialist, and the non-alcoholic Fluidité pairing features house-made fermented drinks and infusions.
The restaurant seats 47, with one private room for up to six. The atmosphere is calm and refined, allowing the food to speak. Whether you come for the Michelin-starred precision or the philosophical depth, CYCLE offers a meal that feels both purposeful and beautiful—a true cycle of taste, nature, and passion.
