The story
Edomae Shibahama is a counter-only sushi restaurant in the Shiba district of Minato-ku, Tokyo. The restaurant takes its name from the Edo-mae tradition—the classic Tokyo-style sushi that honors the city’s bay and its seasonal fish.
The intimate dining room, cooled by air conditioning and centered around a long counter, seats guests directly in front of the chef. This setup reinforces the focused, personal experience that defines Edomae Shibahama. The restaurant reopened in June 2021 after a full renovation, marking a new chapter in its history.
The 2026 Michelin Recommended award quietly underscores the quality of the craftsmanship here. Without flash or fanfare, Edomae Shibahama offers a genuine Japanese counter dining experience that stays true to its roots.
