The story

Le Coq – French Fine Dining in Ebisu, Tokyo | Michelin Recommended

A Quiet Evening in Ebisu

Le Coq occupies a discreet ground-floor space in Shibuya’s Ebisu neighborhood, where the pace slows just enough to let a meal unfold properly. The restaurant’s name – French for “the rooster” – signals a classic Gallic sensibility, yet the cooking feels distinctly of its place: precise, seasonal, and quietly confident.

The Menu

Dinner here follows a degustation format. The full course, at ¥14,300, moves through two appetizers, a fish dish, a meat course, dessert, and coffee. A lighter option, ¥11,000, pares this back to one appetizer while keeping the same rhythm of fish, meat, and sweets. The kitchen is happy to accommodate allergies or preferences – just let them know when you book.

The wine list leans heavily on France, with about eighty labels available by the glass (from ¥1,650) or bottle (from ¥8,800). Beer and soft drinks start at ¥880. A 10% service charge applies.

Michelin Recognition

Le Coq’s steady, unfussy approach earned it a place in the Michelin guide for 2026 – a recommendation that speaks to the consistency and care behind each plate. The restaurant serves dinner only, with last orders at 8:00 PM, and also offers takeaway dishes by reservation. Private lunch events or visits with children can be arranged on request.
