High above the Ginza district, on the rooftop of the Chanel Ginza Building, Le Jardin de Kamo is an open-air terrace that feels a world away from the city below. The name, French for “tweed garden,” is a direct reference to the manicured lawn, which is trimmed in a tweed pattern — a quiet nod to the house of Chanel that anchors the building.

This is a place built around Champagne. Magnum bottles are the house standard, poured by the glass or mixed into cocktails that balance elegance with a light, refreshing touch. The signature Coco cocktail, inspired by the founder herself, blends Champagne with elderflower and pomegranate for a floral, aromatic sip. The Rose Mademoiselle, a gin-based cocktail with rose liqueur and grape juice, is served tall and sparkling — the kind of drink that tastes like a perfume in the best possible way.

The food menu comes from the restaurant one floor below: BEIGE Alain Ducasse Tokyo, the contemporary French restaurant that earned the building its Michelin recognition. Small plates include a cured ham from Teruel, a pâté de campagne, smoked salmon blinis with sour cream, and a selection of cheeses. The “Appetizer Collection” offers a composed tasting of several dishes, while the Tea Set Blanche — a dessert of berries, vanilla, and a camellia-shaped chocolate — is limited to ten servings a day.

Manager Ko Ishii and head sommelier Seitaro Suzuki oversee the experience. Ishii’s background includes stints at the Grand Hyatt Tokyo and Hyatt Centric Ginza, while Suzuki moved into French gastronomy after years at BEIGE Alain Ducasse Tokyo. Together, they have shaped a space that is both luxurious and unhurried.

The terrace is open seasonally, with hours that shift to match the weather. Summer evenings stretch late, while the colder months close the terrace entirely. On clear nights, the skyline opens up around you, and the Champagne keeps flowing.
