The story
Le Nougat opened in January 2008 on a quiet backstreet in Ginza. The name comes from a song by Kyoto-born, France-based chansonnier Wasaburo, whose tune "Le Nougat" embodies the warmth and energy the team aims for every day. The result is a casual French bistro where the welcome is genuine and the cooking is rooted in regional traditions.
The kitchen turns out more than sixty dishes drawn from across France. Classics such as oeuf mayonnaise, rillettes de porc, bouillabaisse, cassoulet, and steak frites appear alongside lesser-known specialities like tripes à la mode de Caen and boudin noir. Bread is baked fresh each day. The menu changes with the seasons, and a weekend brunch offers set courses that include a choice of entrée, main, and dessert.
Le Nougat shares its wine programme with sister wine bar Chinois. The list holds around 300 bottles, with more than twenty available by the glass. The selection ranges from everyday drinking wines to rare bottles kept in the cellar, all chosen by the team. Guests can also order wine from the companion online shop to enjoy at home.
The bistro's consistent quality earned it a Michelin Bib Gourmand for 2026, a mark of good value cooking in a welcoming setting. Regular events include the annual Paris Festival concert, now in its seventeenth year, featuring Wasaburo and musicians in an intimate salon setting. The restaurant also hosts private parties and seasonal dinners.
Le Nougat serves lunch and dinner, with weekend brunch from noon. The interior is comfortable and unfussy, with options for outdoor seating, private dining, and takeaway. The atmosphere is lively but relaxed—the kind of place where a glass of champagne and a plate of charcuterie can turn into a long evening.
