The story
Loiseau de France opened in June 2024 on the grounds of the Tokyo France Institute (Institut Français du Japon) in Ichigaya, Shinjuku. The restaurant describes itself as an “ambassador of French food culture” and a “embassy of French terroir,” created to celebrate the richness of French cuisine in a setting that feels like a beautiful park with abundant greenery and wild birds.
This is the Tokyo outpost of the Loiseau group, carrying the name and philosophy of the legendary French chef Bernard Loiseau. Known for his innovative “water-based French cuisine,” Loiseau’s approach to cooking—light, pure, and deeply respectful of ingredients—defines the kitchen’s direction. The restaurant presents a menu that aims to capture “all the charms of French cuisine.”
The restaurant earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2026, a recognition that highlights good quality, good value cooking. It reflects the restaurant’s commitment to making refined French cooking accessible in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.
Located in the leafy Tokyo France Institute campus, Loiseau de France offers indoor and outdoor seating, making it a fitting spot for both a leisurely lunch and a refined dinner. The boutique on-site sells 100% French-imported products, allowing guests to take a piece of the experience home.
Lunch is served from 11:30 to 15:00 (last order 13:30), dinner from 17:30 to 22:00 (last order 20:00). The restaurant is closed Mondays and Tuesdays, except on public holidays and for private group bookings.
