The story
Sudachi is a Michelin-selected Japanese omakase restaurant in the quiet streets of Minami-Aoyama, Tokyo. Chef Noboru Okamoto opened this counter-dining space with a simple desire: to create a restaurant where guests want to bring their most important people. The name “Sudachi” fuses “su” (pure, natural) and “dachi” (friend), reflecting the hope that diners can enjoy a sincere, unhurried conversation over excellent food.
The monthly-changing course draws on the finest seasonal ingredients from across Japan. Chef Okamoto combines kaiseki-style techniques with contemporary creativity, and each dish is finished in front of guests at the counter. The progression weaves together traditional Japanese cuisine, sushi, and matcha, inviting all five senses into the meal. Dinner options range from a carefully selected course at ¥18,000 to a chef’s course at ¥27,500 (including tax and service), while lunch offers three tiers starting at ¥5,500.
The restaurant seats up to twenty guests across a ten-seat counter and table seating. The atmosphere is refined yet welcoming—a space designed for quiet connection between chef and diner. This dedication to craftsmanship and hospitality earned Sudachi a spot in the Michelin guide, recognized for its accomplished omakase. Whether visiting Tokyo for a special occasion or simply seeking an authentic Japanese meal, Sudachi delivers an experience rooted in precision, seasonality, and genuine warmth.
