The story
Mesón Sabor Andaluz is the story of two generations who grew up loving the products of their land. For more than 25 years, this mesón in the white village of Alcalá del Valle has welcomed guests as if into a family home. The philosophy is simple: let the fire speak. A wood-fired oven fed with olive and holm oak from the surrounding hills marks every dish with a smoky, honest flavour. Here, tradition and the contemporary walk side by side.
In 2026, the restaurant earned its first Michelin star, a recognition of its high-quality cooking and clear identity. The kitchen places vegetables at the centre – the "huerta" (orchard) is the star. As the team puts it, the cooking is a thread where the protagonist is mostly plant-based, with ingredients sourced from the immediate environment. This is contemporary Andalusian cuisine that respects the past while looking forward.
The most complete offering is the "Menú Fanega", a twelve-course savoury journey followed by three desserts. Each dish highlights the product and the setting. The menu changes with the seasons, and guests receive an original illustration by artist Anabel Perujo, inspired by the colours and textures of the meal. A wine pairing option showcases the best local vintages. For a slightly shorter experience, the "Menú Celemín" is also available.
The mesón is intimate and welcoming, with options for outdoor seating on fine days and a private dining room for special occasions. The restaurant is open for lunch on Mondays, Thursdays, and Sundays, and for both lunch and dinner on Fridays and Saturdays. Reservations are managed online, and the team asks guests to note any dietary restrictions in advance, as the kitchen adapts its largely vegetable-led menu to accommodate them.
In a quiet corner of Cádiz province, Mesón Sabor Andaluz proves that contemporary cooking does not need to abandon its roots – it can simply let the fire burn brighter.
