The story
In Alcossebre, a quiet coastal town in Castellón, Atalaya is the project of chefs Alejandra Herrador and Emanuel Carlucci. Their restaurant is described as a space for calm, retreat, and comfort—a place where people are the true priority. This philosophy extends from the chefs to their team, suppliers, and guests.
The kitchen is led by two chefs with formidable pedigrees. Alejandra Herrador, who trained in architecture and fine arts before discovering her passion for cooking, has worked with Martin Berasategui, Sergi Arola, and Pepe Solla. Emanuel Carlucci, an Argentine-born chef who moved to Spain at eleven, honed his craft at Michelin-starred restaurants including Via Veneto, Martin Berasategui, and Ramon Freixa. They met while working at the Martin Berasategui restaurant in Lasarte and opened Atalaya in 2014.
Their cooking is defined as creative, dynamic, and free of constraints, showcasing the best products of Castellón. The menu options are named after traditional boats: the Llaüt (a flexible à la carte menu), the Bergantín (a journey through local territory), and the Falutx (the most complete gastronomic proposal, with nine main courses). An interesting wine list and wine pairing options accompany each menu.
The restaurant's recognition includes a Michelin star, awarded in 2022 and retained in the 2026 guide, as well as two Soles from Guía Repsol. These accolades affirm the quality of their contemporary cuisine, served in a setting that balances fine dining with genuine warmth. Atalaya offers several spaces, including an interior dining room and an outdoor terrace, and hosts events, private parties, and culinary classes at a chef's table.
