The story
In the port town of Alcúdia, chef Maca de Castro runs a restaurant that feels like a sanctuary from trends. Her kitchen is a direct expression of Mallorca’s landscape—before foraging and local sourcing became fashionable, she was already combing the island for exceptional ingredients: caproig, fresh seafood, mare's milk, and vegetables from her own orchards in Sa Pobla.
At Maca de Castro, the cuisine is built on deep listening. Every dish begins by observing what the land and sea offer at their precise moment. This philosophy translates into a single tasting menu (€165) that changes constantly with the seasons and harvests. It is a journey where technique, sensitivity, and territory come together without fuss or distraction.
The dining room itself is deliberately quiet. There is no background music; only the sounds of the space and the conversation between diners. The room evokes the ancient vineyards of the island, with the scent of barrels in the air, and a wine list that draws from both Mallorca and the mainland. An optional eight-wine pairing (€110) is designed to mirror the harmony of the menu.
Maca de Castro’s talent earned a Michelin star for the restaurant—recognition of her unwavering respect for the earth and the clean, confident flavours that emerge from her hands. The team works as a self-sufficient ecosystem: from root to smile, as the chef likes to say. Because here, eating close to home is how you travel far.
