The story
Since opening its doors in 1994, Maestral has been a fixture in Alicante’s Vistahermosa district. Now, under a new direction, it has returned to its core principles: seasonal produce, slow cooking, and sincere hospitality. The philosophy is straightforward—a cuisine that celebrates the local huerta and sea, without artifice. Recently recognised by the Michelin guide, Maestral is once again a defining address for Mediterranean cuisine in Alicante.
The restaurant occupies a stately chalet set within a leafy garden, just minutes from the beach. Its bright, welcoming rooms and private dining spaces have been the backdrop for countless meals and celebrations over three decades. The new management, Bonalba Resort, has focused on respecting the restaurant’s history and character while refreshing every detail. The goal is simple: to make Maestral the same essential gathering place it has always been.
The menu remains true to its roots. Think local Alicantino classics: rice dishes, fresh fish, grilled meats, and homemade desserts, all built from carefully sourced ingredients. The garden and terrace offer a tranquil escape, ideal for long lunches or evening drinks from the bar.
Whether for a midday meal or a late dinner, Maestral is designed for lingering. The dining rooms are luminous and comfortable, and the garden is the most charming corner of the property. It is a versatile space, equally suited for intimate dinners, private parties, or larger events. The kitchen’s commitment to the product—seasonal, local, and handled with respect—is evident in every dish. It is Mediterranean cuisine at its most authentic, now with the confidence and calm that comes from a well-established reputation.
