The story
El Chaleco began in 1997, the dream of a chef father who wanted a small restaurant in a sunny spot with few tables, warm service, and deep respect for fresh food. That spirit still defines every plate. Today, his daughter Audrey runs the front of house while Chef Stéphane — who trained at a Belgian hotel school and worked in the country’s finest kitchens — leads the stoves after 15 years alongside the founder. He took over in 2017, and the commitment has only deepened.
At El Chaleco, nothing comes from a bag. Sauces, bread, ice cream — everything is made in-house. The kitchen prepares two tasting menus built entirely from scratch: a short version of three services (37.95€) and a full degustation of five services (48.95€). Both begin with kitchen aperitifs and move through starters, a main, and dessert. Every dish is composed with the belief that you eat first with your eyes, then with your palate.
The restaurant earned a mention in the Michelin guide in 1998, and has held the Bib Gourmand distinction — good quality, good value cooking — every year since 2000. It’s a quiet, steady recognition of the kind of French cuisine that El Chaleco has always stood for: honest, technically sound, and built on respect for the ingredient. No shortcuts, no industrial shortcuts. Just the pleasure of a meal made properly.
