The story
Since 2013, Sabrina and José María have run La Tavernetta da Ponte in the small town of Ponte do Porto, part of the Camariñas municipality on Galicia’s rugged Costa da Morte. The restaurant’s concept is direct: Italian cuisine made with a Galician touch. The result is a place where the traditions of Italy meet the produce of the Atlantic coast.
The kitchen focuses on handmade pasta, fresh seafood from Galicia, and quality meats. Dishes mentioned by guests include a truffle calamarata with mushrooms and Parmigiano, and a pasta with Galician beef ragu. The menu is described as short but intense, with each plate showing care and precision. The wine list is well selected and priced fairly.
The restaurant’s setting adds to the experience. The dining rooms and terrace look out over the Porto River and its estuary, offering a calm, scenic backdrop. The space itself is welcoming, with a style that feels both personal and professional.
The recognition from the Michelin guide, which awarded it a Recommended status for 2026, reflects the consistency and quality of the cooking. Guests regularly call it a discovery and a gem, praising the attentive service and the way Sabrina and José María work together in the kitchen and front of house.
Open for lunch from Wednesday to Sunday, and for dinner on Fridays and Saturdays. In August, the restaurant is open every day.
