The story
In Cartagena, Magoga is the gastronomic embrace between the vastness of the Mediterranean and the soul of the Campo de Cartagena. Chef María Gómez and maître-sommelier Adrián de Marcos lead this project, which has earned a Michelin star for its contemporary cuisine. The couple, who met while training at the prestigious AIALA school, bring together their experiences at restaurants like Arzak and El Bulli to create a cuisine that balances simplicity, harmony, and technique.
The restaurant's philosophy is rooted in the local landscape. Gómez and de Marcos champion the "heroes of the Campo de Cartagena"—the farmers and livestock breeders who supply their pantry. Sustainability is a stated commitment, a way of cooking that respects the land and its history. Magoga offers three ways to experience this vision: the Ánima menu, described as a story told through emotion and memory; the Hábitat menu, which captures the essential, balanced flavours of the territory; and an à la carte option for a more flexible meal.
The wine cellar, curated by Adrián de Marcos, holds nine hundred carefully selected references, earning him the title of Best Sommelier of the Region of Murcia. The cheese trolley, recognised with the Q de Quesos award for Spain's best cheese menu, is another highlight. Each detail, from the service to the sourcing, is focused on creating a sense of balance and a pursuit of happiness through food.
