The story
In the quiet countryside of Ruiloba, just outside Comillas, El Remedio occupies a discreetly distinguished house on a small hill. A large garden looks out toward the cliffs of the Cantabrian Sea, and a 19th-century hermitage stands nearby. The setting feels removed from the everyday, which is exactly the point.
Chef Samuel Fernández leads the kitchen, working with a team that, by their own account, enjoys cooking and aims to make guests feel at home. Their approach is rooted in healthy, seasonal cooking. The chef carefully selects fresh ingredients, shaping them into dishes described on the restaurant's own site as "original, full of sharp and robust flavours" and "an authentic experience in which texture and colour awaken all your senses." Desserts are singled out as a spectacle not to be missed.
The wine list is extensive, and a sommelier is on hand to guide the pairing. The restaurant's commitment to quality and a clear sense of place has earned it a Michelin Recommended distinction for 2026.
El Remedio is open for lunch from Tuesday to Sunday, and for dinner from Thursday to Saturday. It is closed on Monday and Sunday evenings.
