The story
In the heart of Da’an District, Aleisha brings the spirit of the Mediterranean to Taipei. The name, derived from the Arabic cognate of Alicia, means “noble natured” – a fitting description for a dining room that aims to transport guests to a different era and dimension. The space is designed for intimacy, where each meal becomes a live performance and food plays the vital, immersive role.
Head Chef Ben Chen’s passion for Mediterranean cuisine is the driving force behind Aleisha. Trained in Italian and Spanish cooking, he combines flavors from Greece, Spain, Italy, and beyond with fearless creativity. His philosophy – “Food enriches the soul” – is evident in every dish. Ben draws inspiration from the people around him, using food as a common language to create unforgettable sensory experiences. The result is a menu that is daring, playful, and always pushing boundaries.
Aleisha offers a single tasting menu, designed to be ordered in advance. The dishes are as inventive as their names: “Un-Fala-Fellable” pairs hummus with herb powder and yogurt foam; “See Your Chin” features sakura shrimp, caviar, and green apple. The journey continues through octopus with Kalamata olive and sea urchin, a tomato consommé with milk fish, and a trotter with Madeira wine and truffle. Mains include a choice of mahi mahi with nduja, New Zealand lamb saddle, or Kagoshima A3 Wagyu. A wine pairing option, with four glasses, complements the meal.
Aleisha’s bold Mediterranean approach has earned it a place in the Michelin guide, recommended for its cutting-edge cuisine. This recognition underscores the restaurant’s success in teleporting diners to the sunny Mediterranean, right in the heart of Taipei. With counter dining and a carefully curated wine pairing, every visit is a uniquely intimate experience.
