The story
The restaurant sits facing the port, halfway between the sea and Dénia’s castle. From its windows, you watch the comings and goings of one of the Mediterranean’s most special harbors—the boats, the interplay of tourists and locals, the particular light that envelops everything. The setting is a privilege, and the team is quick to acknowledge it: “We are lucky to work in one of the most beautiful corners of the Valencian Community.”
That luck translates directly to the plate. Product comes first. Every day, the team visits the Dénia fish market and others along the Valencian coast, sourcing the best fish and seafood the Mediterranean has to offer. This commitment to proximity and freshness is the backbone of the menu, which also draws heavily from the local huerta (market gardens). The cuisine is a celebration of what the sea and land provide, prepared with a respect for tradition that allows room for innovation.
The restaurant’s wine cellar, overseen by sommelier José Ignacio Arribas, is an integral part of the experience. With over 400 references from Spain and around the world, it is curated with the same dedication as the daily trip to the market. Arribas guides guests through the selection, treating wine as an indispensable part of the gastronomic journey.
Peix & Brases offers several distinct spaces. An Oyster bar in the hall welcomes guests with a plate of oysters and a glass of champagne—the perfect start. A few steps up, a terrace called Cielo (Sky) opens during warmer months, offering sea breezes and starry nights. For more intimate gatherings, a private dining room seats 25 guests. The restaurant has earned a Michelin star for its high-quality cooking, a recognition that feels natural for a kitchen so focused on sourcing the best of the Mediterranean and treating it with skill and respect.
