The story
At Restaurant Castell Perelada, the philosophy is clear: a reinterpretation of the culinary heritage of the local territory. Chef Javi Martínez presents a seasonal menu that recovers the legacy of traditional Catalan cooking, merging innovation with the flavours and techniques of the past. The result is a tribute to ancient Catalan and Ampurdan recipes, reimagined for the modern palate.
The kitchen relies on organic, seasonal, and locally sourced ingredients, including produce from the restaurant’s own garden. This commitment to freshness and authenticity underpins every dish, from the spring creations like Maresme pea with lobster and butifarra, to citrus and gin infusions.
The experience is guided by two exceptional professionals. Chef Javi Martínez brings over 20 years of experience, having trained at renowned restaurants including Mas Pau. His dedication to the territory and creative reinterpretation of traditional Catalan dishes has earned the restaurant a Michelin star and two Repsol Suns.
Leading the dining room is Toni Gerez, a sommelier whose charisma and passion make him the master of ceremonies. He oversees the exclusive wine cellar and an excellent cheese trolley. In 2023, Gerez received the Michelin Guide’s special award for Best Dining Room Service in Spain and Portugal, a first for the guide. His work, alongside the team’s dedication, has been recognised with a Michelin star since 2017.
The restaurant occupies a privileged space within the 14th-century Castell de Peralada. Guests dine across several rooms, private alcoves in the towers, and a terrace overlooking the lake and stunning gardens. The atmosphere is one of authentic, exceptional hospitality, ideal for a memorable meal of modern cuisine rooted in its Catalan surroundings.
