The story
Perched above the port of Fisterra, Ó Fragón occupies a modern building that blends into the landscape. From its floor-to-ceiling windows, guests look out over the Atlantic, the Ría, the Langosteira beach, and the legendary Monte Pindo. The sea is never far from sight – fishing boats come and go, and the rhythm of the Costa da Morte sets the pace. The restaurant sits at the beginning of the town, in the hamlet of San Martiño de Arriba, with its own parking and a terrace for outdoor dining. It is a place that feels both remote and welcoming, a destination in itself.
The kitchen at Ó Fragón works with a simple philosophy: "market cuisine, proximity, and organic." Every ingredient is local – seafood, fish, vegetables, and meats – and the restaurant bakes its own bread daily. The menu changes daily, reflecting what is freshest. Small plates are designed to be shared, and a tasting menu with an optional wine pairing is available. The team describes their cooking as "simplicity, flavour… product, which we pamper in the cooking and presentations." The Michelin Guide awarded Ó Fragón a Recommended distinction in 2026, recognising the refined yet unpretentious treatment of Galician ingredients. The restaurant is also a popular stop for pilgrims finishing the Camino de Santiago – the Ruta Xacobea – and can accommodate groups of up to 48.
The wine list is focused on Galicia, with a curated selection of whites, reds, sparkling, and sweet wines. The team updates it weekly, occasionally including bottles from other regions, always aiming for "authentic wines." Among the dishes that appear on the daily menu are marinated xeito sardine, XXL clams, grilled sea bass, and a creamy Savel blue cheese ice cream with red berries. The cooking is precise, the flavours direct – a reflection of the kitchen’s respect for the product. The restaurant asks guests to inform about allergies or intolerances in advance, and notes that their gastronomic offer is not ideal for vegans or those with shellfish allergies. Ó Fragón is closed on Tuesdays, and a credit card guarantee is required for booking.
