The story
Casa Gerardo has been a fixture in the Asturian countryside near Gijón since 1882. The story begins with Demetrio, the first generation, and continues through Gerardo, Geles, Pedro, and now Marcos, who took the reins in 2005. Each generation has left its mark, slowly shaping what the restaurant is today: a place where tradition meets a clear, modern vision. The current team describes their cooking as Modern Cuisine, rooted in the products of the region but expressed with contemporary technique and precision.
The restaurant’s consistency and quiet evolution have earned it a Michelin star, a recognition that underscores the family’s commitment to quality without fanfare. The dining room is welcoming, the service attentive, and the kitchen focuses on letting ingredients speak. The menu changes with the seasons, drawing from local markets and the nearby coast. Dishes are direct, well‑executed, and reflective of the landscape—this is Modern Cuisine that feels both personal and grounded.
Casa Gerardo also offers a catering service, CG Catering, and a home‑delivery option called “CG en tu casa.” These extensions allow the kitchen to reach beyond the restaurant’s walls, bringing its signature style to private events and homes. Whether you visit the original stone‑walled house in Prendes or enjoy a meal at your own table, the same care and respect for ingredients apply. It’s a family affair, quietly perfected over more than a century.
