The story
Massana is a family restaurant in Girona where modern cuisine meets a deep respect for tradition. It is a story that began in 1986, when chef Pere Massana opened his first premises on Carrer Bonastruc de Porta, and continues today with a commitment to evolution and excellence.
The roots of Massana go back further, to Pere’s childhood in Sant Pau d’Ordal, surrounded by the aromas of the wood-fired grill at the family restaurant, Cal Pere del Maset. After training at the Girona School of Hospitality, he built a career grounded in discipline and technique. In 2002, a major renovation expanded the kitchen and created Espai Massana, a space for private dining and events. This constant work was recognized in 2007 with a Michelin star, an award the restaurant has held ever since. The Repsol Guide also awarded Massana two Suns in 2010.
Today, a generational handover has seen Pere Massana Roger take the reins, carrying forward the family legacy with the same dedication. The restaurant’s philosophy is clear: respect the roots of tradition and the nature of each product. The purity of the ingredient, the harmony of flavours, and delicacy in presentation are the foundations of a cuisine that aims to be a performance at the service of the guest.
The experience at Massana centres on a tasting menu, described as a gastronomic journey full of nuances and emotions. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner from Tuesday to Saturday, offering a set time for the tasting menu to ensure a focused and serene experience. Each plate is an invitation to enjoy haute cuisine with a distinctive seal, crafted to captivate.
