The story

Faralá: Contemporary Fine Dining with a Michelin Star in Granada

The spirit of Granada on a plate

Faralá sits on the iconic Cuesta de Gomérez, just steps from the Alhambra. The building itself is a two-story affair where refined contemporary cooking meets the raw emotion of flamenco. The restaurant’s philosophy is clear: a search for purity, roots, and duende – that elusive, soulful spark – expressed through the territory of Granada.

Two women, one vision

Chef Cristina Jiménez, one of the youngest women in Spain to earn a Michelin star, leads the kitchen with a singular approach: “I think in sweet, and from that first idea I develop my savory cooking.” Her sweet-toothed perspective infuses savory dishes with unexpected layers and nuance. Sauces are given starring roles, made with the finest local produce from a province of dramatic landscapes and microclimates.

In the dining room, Lidia Outeda brings a passion for wine and hospitality. A sommelier and head of service, she is a devotee of Jerez and its wines, and her deep knowledge turns each pairing into a story. Together, the duo creates an experience that feels both personal and rooted in place.

Three tasting menus

The menu is offered in three degustation formats, each named after Granada landmarks. Susurros del Sacromonte (78€) is the entry point; La magia del Albayzín (98€) expands the journey; and Alborán (128€) is the full expression, with dishes like gamba roja, vieira with onion and caviar, and a striking leche rizada dessert. All are subject to seasonal change. A wine pairing can be added to each.

Flamenco and a wine bar

For dinner, the full experience can be paired with a live flamenco show – a synthesis of Andalusian culture that begins before the first course. Downstairs, El Quejío wine bar offers a more informal take on Jiménez’s cooking, with a snack-friendly menu and the city’s largest wine-by-the-glass list. Faralá’s Michelin star (2026) recognizes the precision and soul of this contemporary Granadan cuisine, but the warmth of the welcome is what lingers.
