The story
In the heart of León, just opposite the iconic Casa Botines, Marcela Brasa y Vinos brings together two great passions: fire and wine. The restaurant spans over 500 square metres, offering a lively bar and terrace for tapas, an animated wine zone, and a dedicated dining room where the grill takes centre stage. Whether you stop in for a quick tapa at the counter or settle in for a long meal, the atmosphere is welcoming and animated, with music and service that invites you to linger.
The kitchen works with daily market produce, prioritising local ingredients and seasonal cycles. The wood-fired grill is the heart of the operation, used to enhance the natural character of carefully selected meats and fish. The menu reflects a respect for tradition while leaving room for creativity — a balance that has earned Marcela a Recommendation in the Michelin Guide.
Marcela’s wine list is one of the most extensive in León, with more than 1,000 references. It has been curated to offer perfect pairings with the food from the grill, and also to be enjoyed by the glass. The restaurant was named Best Wine Bar in Spain in 2024, and has also received a Sol and a Solete from the Guía Repsol, alongside the SICTED tourism quality seal.
The restaurant’s blog reflects this same dedication to wine knowledge, exploring denominaciones de origen, curiosities, and the stories behind the bottle — a resource for both professionals and enthusiasts.
Marcela is designed to adapt to different moments. The bar and terrace are the meeting point for classic tapas and a lively atmosphere from midday until late. The upper dining room and high tables offer a more focused experience, with the grill as the protagonist. The restaurant also accommodates private parties and groups, with a dedicated group menu and a children’s menu available.
The name Marcela, and the quote from Jane Goodall that appears on the website — “What you do makes a difference” — speak to a philosophy of conscious cooking: respect for the product, the land, and the people who share the table.
