The story
Since 1982, El Roser 2 has stood on the seafront of l’Escala, in one of the Costa Brava’s most beautiful bays. Founded by Rafel Sabadí Hereu and his wife Angelina Vilá, the restaurant quickly became a local benchmark for its excellent raw materials and prime location. Today, their son Jordi Sabadí and his wife Nuri Pons carry forward the same philosophy: good service, quality product, and cooking that adapts to contemporary tastes.
El Roser 2’s kitchen is rooted in the Empordà recipe tradition, with a personalised seafood cuisine that changes with the seasons. The menu ranges from classic seafood dishes to more imaginative, evolved interpretations, all built on a careful selection of produce from neighbouring ports and the nearby vegetable garden. For those who want to explore the kitchen’s more modern side, a tasting menu offers a short trip through the team’s most current cooking. There is also a Gran Mariscada menu for anyone who wants to enjoy the best seafood the Mediterranean offers, and a seasonal menu available Monday to Friday.
For guests who prefer to eat at home, El Roser 2 offers a takeaway menu that recalls the restaurant’s cross-country roots, presenting traditional Catalan cuisine with the same respect for product and tradition that defines the dining room.
The restaurant’s commitment to quality and its privileged position facing the sea have earned it a Michelin recommendation, a fitting recognition for a family-run spot that has been a steady presence on the l’Escala waterfront for over four decades.
