The story
In Majadahonda, just outside Madrid, El Viejo Fogón has become a fixture since opening its doors in 2006. The name translates to "The Old Stove," and that spirit is at the heart of what they do. The philosophy is a deliberate fusion of traditional cooking and contemporary style, a balance the kitchen brings to life every day.
The restaurant occupies a small building 50 metres from the centre of Majadahonda, near the popular market. Inside, the main dining room seats up to 60 guests, while a private room is available for 18 people. The atmosphere is one of comfortable refinement, appropriate for both a business lunch and an evening out. Guests can also enjoy outdoor seating when the weather allows.
The contemporary cuisine on offer has earned the restaurant a place in the Michelin Guide, receiving a recommended status for 2026. This recognition highlights "a kitchen of quality," and the team takes genuine pride in the distinction. The menu is wide-ranging. The Executive Menu, a popular choice, offers a double appetiser, a starter chosen from four options, a main course selecting from two fish and two meat dishes, and a dessert from three choices. Standout dishes mentioned include Volcan de Virutas de Foie, Tomates Marinados, Tiradito de Pescado del Dia, and Pato Azulón. A tasting menu is also available for those who want a complete tour.
The wine list is curated by head sommelier Miguel Hidalgo Sáez, ensuring a thoughtful selection accompanies every meal. The team, described on the restaurant's own pages, works together to maintain the high standards that have made El Viejo Fogón a reference point in Majadahonda. They have also appeared on a Prime television programme, showcasing their work.
