The story
Balarés is a restaurant that belongs to its place. It sits directly on the shoreline of Balarés beach, on the rugged Costa da Morte in Galicia. The dining room opens to the Atlantic through vast windows, where the light and the rhythm of the waves become part of every meal. This is not a hotel restaurant that happens to serve food — it is a gastronomic destination in its own right, recognised with a Michelin Recommended distinction for 2026 and a Sol from the Guía Repsol.
Chef Silvia Facal leads a kitchen built on absolute respect for the territory. The cooking is contemporary in technique, but the soul is ancient: product from small local fishermen, farmers, and artisans; seafood like percebes from nearby Roncudo; vegetables from Galician huertas; everything driven by seasonality. The menu changes with what the Atlantic and the land offer, and the minimum ticket is €65, with a market tasting menu at €70.
Beyond the main dining room, there is an open kitchen table for those who want to watch the process up close, and a garden terrace where the brisa atlántica and the views complete the experience. Families are welcome (no children's menu, but options for all ages), and guests of the hotel share the space respectfully.
Balarés is not just a meal — it is a conversation with the coast, made tangible in every plate.
