The story
In the small town of Solivella, near Montblanc, Cal Travé is a former café and inn that has been transformed into a destination for those seeking an authentic taste of Catalonia. This is a family business where the past and present meet on the plate. The kitchen passionately combines traditional local cuisine with avant-garde cooking, a balance that has earned the restaurant a place in the Michelin guide.
The day begins with bread-making, a craft inherited from the family’s ancestors who were bakers. Alongside bread, the kitchen prepares sweet treats, desserts, and small indulgences to accompany coffee. Vegetables come from the restaurant’s own garden, and other ingredients are carefully sourced for quality. A particular specialty is grilled dishes cooked over various types of wood, a nod to the Catalan grill tradition that gives depth and smoke to meats and vegetables.
Cal Travé is also the heart of the Sanstravé winery. The family’s vineyards, located on the highest part of Solivella within the DO Conca de Barberà, span over 25 hectares of red and clay soil. The harvest is done manually, and the result is a range of wines and cavas that reflect the land: intense reds and transparent whites. The restaurant’s cellar is a natural extension of this work, offering guests wines born from the same soil that grows their food.
The restaurant’s recognition by Michelin speaks to the consistency and care of this family-run project, where the cooking is grounded in place and season, yet never afraid to look forward.
