The story
In the heart of Pamplona, a few steps from the Plaza del Castillo, Restaurante Europa has been a family story since 1977. The Idoate siblings – Pilar in the kitchen, Mª Carmen in the dining room, and Juan Mari at the helm – carry forward a tradition of honest, rooted cooking. Their sister Mª Eugenia, whose name graces one of the menus, remains an essential part of the restaurant’s memory.
Chef Pilar Idoate describes her food simply: “My cooking is rooted in tradition, updated with a touch of the avant-garde.” The kitchen lets the seasons dictate the menu, highlighting the rich diversity of Navarra’s products. The result is a contemporary, seasonal cuisine that feels both grounded and fresh. Whether you choose the Menú 1975, the Carta Europa, or the longer Menú Degustación, each plate is built around local ingredients treated with respect and clarity.
In 2026, the family’s steady dedication earned a Michelin star, a fitting acknowledgment of their craft. The dining room is warm and unpretentious, designed for celebrations and quiet meals alike. During San Fermín, a special menu showcases festive dishes like slow-cooked Segovia suckling pig and truffled egg. For other occasions, the hotel-room menu offers a curated four-course journey with wine pairings.
Europa is a place where the Idoate family’s identity and the flavours of Navarra meet – no fuss, just honest cooking.
