The story

Casa Pedro, Puente Genil: Michelin-Recommended Mediterranean Dining

A Family Affair Since 1989

In 1989, Pedro Lucena Ariza opened Casa Pedro in Puente Genil, building a restaurant that reflects his values of hard work and consistency. It remains a family business, where the same care and enthusiasm that marked the first day are still present. The restaurant’s philosophy is rooted in the Mediterranean diet and the use of fresh, seasonal products. From the start, the team has offered a wide selection of cured meats, cheeses, and hams from the Serranía Cordobesa, alongside fresh seafood. This commitment to quality ingredients has earned Casa Pedro a place among the region’s most respected tables.

Mediterranean Roots, Modern Flourishes

The kitchen at Casa Pedro is built on two pillars: the Mediterranean diet and fresh produce. Traditional recipes are prepared with patience and respect, while the young kitchen team adds modern touches. Two standout dishes illustrate this balance. The carrillada de ternera (beef cheek) is slow-cooked until meltingly tender, served on a silky sweet potato purée with a rich reduction sauce and a garnish of fresh herbs. The buñuelitos de pulpo (octopus fritters) offer a crisp contrast, bringing the sea to the plate with a light, flavourful bite. Each dish is a testament to the kitchen’s dedication to product and technique.

A Wine List Rooted in the Land

Casa Pedro’s wine list is a celebration of local vineyards, with a particular focus on the Montilla-Moriles denomination. The house specialty is the Pedro Ximénez grape, which, thanks to the intense sun of the Córdoba countryside, produces wines of exceptional purity and elegance without added alcohol. The staff recommends pairings for each course: a crisp Fino with jamón ibérico and shellfish, an Amontillado with white meats or mushroom dishes, an Oloroso with stews and red meats, and a dense, sweet Pedro Ximénez as a dessert in itself. The list also includes Riojas and other prestigious appellations, offering a wide range of reds, whites, and rosés.

The Michelin Recommended Distinction

Casa Pedro’s consistent quality and warm hospitality have been recognised by the Michelin Guide, which added the restaurant to its Recommended list for 2026. The award reflects the restaurant’s ability to offer a genuinely satisfying experience: modern, well-equipped spaces that are accessible to all, a service team that treats every guest like a friend, and a kitchen that respects tradition while embracing innovation. Whether for a weekday lunch, a family celebration, or a quiet dinner, Casa Pedro delivers a meal that feels both personal and professional.
