The story
For more than half a century, the Pintado Mota family has been at the heart of Granero in Quintanar de la Orden, Toledo. What began as a traditional Manchego casa de comidas is now run by the third generation – brothers Alfonso and José Antonio (known as Tito and Pinty) – who have carefully updated the offering while preserving the essence of quality ingredients, meticulous cooking, and attentive service.
Granero offers two distinct experiences. The bar area, with its street-side terrace, serves generous raciones and a weekday lunch menu. This space operates with extended hours, welcoming guests from lunch through dinner. The more formal dining room, reserved for the à la carte menu and a tasting menu, provides a more elegant setting with a carefully curated wine list. Here, the passionate sommelier Adán Israel guides diners, with a special focus on the wines of Castilla La Mancha. The restaurant serves dinner only on Fridays and Saturdays, except on eves of holidays and special dates.
The kitchen presents a contemporary style rooted in tradition, with some fusion touches. Dishes featuring game and the classic Manchego lamb are mainstays, all executed with the family’s signature care. This commitment to good quality, good value cooking earned Granero a Michelin Bib Gourmand award, recognizing it as one of the culinary jewels of the region. The Repsol guide also highlights the family’s decades of work in renovating their proposals without losing their soul.
Whether you settle into the lively bar for a midday meal or book the dining room for a tasting menu with wine pairing, Granero offers a genuine taste of modern La Mancha, served with the warmth of a family that has been doing it right for generations.
