The story
Ocre occupies the ground floor of Can Ferrereta, a hotel in Santanyí, Mallorca. The dining room is built into an ancient celler – a wine cellar – where original stone arches and a preserved 17th-century graffiti remain. This setting offers a sense of history that is both solid and quiet. A private dining room seats eight and opens onto a small, planted inner patio, while additional tables are set in the Mallorcan courtyard. There is also a small wine cellar stocked with vintages from various denominations.
The kitchen is led by chefs Àlvar Albaladejo and Tamara Lumbreras. Their approach is direct: honest, uncomplicated cooking where the ingredient is the focus. They work with local suppliers and seasonal produce, sourcing from the island and the wider Mediterranean. Every Saturday, this commitment takes the form of a special market menu, inspired by the fresh goods found that week in the Santanyí market. It is a cuisine of proximity, letting Mallorca’s best speak for itself.
This focus on ingredient-led, seasonal cooking aligns with the restaurant’s Michelin Recommended status, a recognition of its consistent quality within the Mediterranean cuisine tradition. Whether for breakfast, a market-menu lunch, or dinner, Ocre presents a straightforward, refined taste of the island.
