The story
Casa Marcelo sits on Rúa das Hortas in the heart of Santiago de Compostela, a restaurant built on a simple premise that began in 1999. Chef Marcelo Tejedor started with honest cooking, the kind he experienced at home, driven first by necessity and soon by conviction. Today, that spirit defines the experience.
The kitchen is guided by clear roots: care for ingredients, respect for craft, and the ability to create magic with almost nothing. It’s what Tejedor’s mother, Rosalía, taught him. He says she remains in every dish — her intuition, her elegance, her way of doing things without excess or noise. The restaurant’s approach is anything but casual, described as precision and soul in every plate, drawing on Galicia’s almost inexhaustible pantry.
There is no à la carte. Casa Marcelo offers a single set meal, the Rosalía Menu, which changes with the seasons. The Spring 2026 menu, priced at €135 per person, opens with an Onion & Galmesano, followed by a progression that includes an Oyster in “Salpicón”, Stewed Morels with Herbs, Duckling and Cherries, and a Millefeuille by Casa Marcelo. The cooking is a personal, refined take on Spanish cuisine, with the chef’s own fusion of local tradition and contemporary technique.
The dining room is intimate, open for lunch and dinner Wednesday through Saturday, with a Sunday lunch service. The restaurant’s consistent, high-quality cooking has earned it a Michelin star, a recognition that feels organic to an experience built on respect and intuition rather than show. For those wanting a taste of Tejedor’s vision, there is only one menu, and it tells his story completely.
