The story
Just outside Santiago de Compostela, in the quiet hamlet of Boqueixón, O Balado – Casa Labrega is a deeply personal project from Marta and Roberto. After nearly twenty years in hospitality, they transformed an abandoned 7,000-square-metre estate into a restaurant that reflects their philosophy: cooking with soul, rooted in respect for nature.
The heart of their kitchen is an organic garden with 800 plants, which supplies the base of every dish. A beautiful wood-fired oven stands as the centrepiece of the dining room, blending contemporary techniques with traditional Galician cooking. The result is a cuisine where the raw ingredient takes the starring role—simple, honest, and full of flavour.
O Balado seats just sixteen guests indoors, with additional outdoor terrace seating for warmer days. The space is designed to encourage lingering—a place to lose yourself, find yourself, or simply let time pass. Parking is available, and the restaurant is wheelchair accessible.
This meticulous approach has earned O Balado a Michelin Recommended award for 2026, a testament to the care that goes into every detail. Marta and Roberto welcome you to their home, where the goal is not just to serve a meal, but to create a very special experience. Reservations are accepted by phone or WhatsApp only.
