The story
In Santiago de Compostela's San Pedro neighborhood, Pampín Bar is a local's spot that has earned a Michelin Recommended distinction. The restaurant describes its cooking simply: "a neighborhood kitchen in a classic local," one that is "from the neighborhood, from home, from the spoon, made with time, with care."
The kitchen is led by chef Alén Tarrío, who reopened Pampín with a commitment to traditional Spanish cuisine. The approach is straightforward and rooted in the region's culinary heritage, focusing on dishes that feel both familiar and thoughtfully prepared.
The menu reflects this philosophy. A sample offering, the "Festa na Miña Casa" menu, begins with a brioche topped with beef tenderloin tartare and anchovy, followed by a pâté, an escabeche (pickled dish), and an ensaladilla (a classic Spanish potato salad). The main course changes with the season, and the meal concludes with a coulant version of the iconic Torta de Santiago. Pampín Bar adjusts its menus based on the season and product availability, ensuring ingredients are at their peak.
The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner, with a kitchen that runs from 13:30 to 15:30 and 20:30 to 22:30. It is closed on Sundays and Mondays. For those who prefer to dine al fresco, outdoor seating is available, and the restaurant also offers takeaway. Private parties can be arranged, and table service is provided.
