The story
La Xarxa sits on Carrer de Sant Pere in the Serrallo, Tarragona’s historic fishing neighbourhood. The port is just metres away, and the family’s fishing tradition means the kitchen works with seafood that arrives straight from the boats. The restaurant calls itself “the Mediterranean fish at the heart of Serrallo” – a promise of freshness that defines every plate.
The space is an adult-focused dining room (no high chairs or strollers), with air conditioning, outdoor seating for warmer months, and a private room for groups. The atmosphere is relaxed but precise, designed for people who value good ingredients and careful cooking.
The cuisine is contemporary, rooted in the sea but not afraid to step beyond it. The menu changes several times a year to follow the catch and the seasons. Dishes are built on clean flavours and solid technique. You might start with a burrata salad with romesco and anchovies, or a rock & roll of steak tartar. Mains can include cod cooked low temperature with pil-pil sauce and a potato parmentier, or Iberian pork cheek with pumpkin and Pedro Ximénez reduction. The rice dishes – white shrimp, mussels, squid and saffron – are a reminder of the coast.
The wine list features local bottles from the Montsant DO, and the team knows how to pair them.
La Xarxa first appeared in the Michelin Guide in 2022, and in 2023 it received the Bib Gourmand – Michelin’s award for good quality, good value cooking. It has renewed the distinction every year since, including 2026. For a restaurant in a working fishing district, the award is a nod to both the integrity of the ingredients and the skill in the kitchen.
The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner, Tuesday to Sunday at midday, Tuesday to Saturday in the evening. The team is straightforward and efficient. This is not a place for fuss – it’s a place for honest, contemporary Mediterranean cooking that lets the sea speak for itself.
