The story
In the heart of Vigo, on Calle Castelar, Kero brings a distinctive vision of Peruvian cuisine to the table. The name itself nods to the ceremonial vessels of the Inca culture, setting the stage for a restaurant built on fusion and respect for ingredients.
Chef Juan Carlos Perret leads the kitchen with a philosophy rooted in “humility and roots.” His training reads like a who’s who of gastronomy: in Peru he worked with Rafael Piqueras and Adolfo Perret; in Spain, he honed his craft under Martín Berasategui and the Roca brothers of El Celler de Can Roca, both three-Michelin-starred establishments. This pedigree is evident in every dish, yet the cooking remains grounded in the local larder.
Kero’s menu is a direct expression of that fusion: Peruvian techniques and flavours, executed with the best produce Galicia has to offer. The restaurant offers two tasting journeys. The shorter “Viaje a Perú” includes four aperitivos, two main courses, and dessert. The longer “Alto Perú” expands to five aperitivos, a starter, fish, meat, and a pre-dessert. Both can be paired with wines. The Michelin Guide, which recognised Kero with a Recommended distinction for 2026, describes the cooking as “quality products and the hand of the chef – simply good food.”
The atmosphere is welcoming, with outdoor seating available and table service that lets the food speak. Whether you choose the full tasting menu or a more casual meal, the cooking is precise and the flavours are direct. Kero is a clear example of how the best Peruvian cuisine in Vigo can feel both deeply rooted and entirely its own.
