The story
Opened in July 2002 and settled in Vilafranca del Penedès since 2012, El Cigró d'Or has built a reputation for honest, flavourful cooking. The dining room is warm and tranquil, with an open kitchen that puts the action on display. Counter seating offers a front-row view of the chefs at work.
Chef Oriol Llavina leads the kitchen, championing a cuisine deeply rooted in the Penedès region. He works with seasonal, locally sourced products, updating traditional Catalan dishes without losing their essence. The team – head chef Moha, Ramon and Martha in the kitchen, and head of room Xavi with Clàudia in the dining room – ensures every meal runs smoothly.
El Cigró d'Or has held a Michelin Bib Gourmand since 2023, a recognition renewed for 2026. The award celebrates restaurants that offer good quality cooking at a reasonable price, and here it reflects a daily dedication to ingredient-driven cooking that stays true to the territory.
The menu’s protagonists are products faithful to the Penedès territory, changing with the seasons. Diners can expect clean, precise flavours that speak of the Catalan landscape. The atmosphere is unpretentious, making it an ideal spot for a leisurely lunch or a relaxed dinner.
