Alpenblick – Stuba in Adelboden: Michelin-Star Modern Cuisine in the Bernese Alps

In the Bernese Oberland village of Adelboden, the Inniger family runs a restaurant that is both deeply rooted and open to the world. The Alpenblick is a place where tradition meets trend, and where the kitchen’s creativity is matched only by its commitment to quality.

The restaurant offers two distinct experiences. In the Stuba, guests find the fine-dining room that has earned the restaurant a Michelin star and 17 Gault-Millau points. Here, the cooking is seasonal, precise, and driven by a philosophy of using predominantly organic ingredients. The team knows their producers by first name – the farmers, butchers, winemakers, and cheesemakers who supply the kitchen. The atmosphere is described as cosy, professional, and personal, all with a view of the 3,000-metre peaks that surround Adelboden.

The cuisine is rooted in Modern Cuisine but draws on a broader palette. The team cites Thai dishes as a particular favourite, with the Thai Curry a noted standout among both chefs and service staff. This influence is woven into the seasonal menus, not as a gimmick but as a natural expression of the kitchen’s curiosity.

The Alpenblick is a family affair. Sous-chef Rebecca Pfiffner trained here and returned after a stint with world pastry chef David Schmid, bringing back a passion for patisserie and praline-making. The team is young and ambitious: apprentice chef Andreas Grossen made it to the finals of Switzerland’s top young cook competition, and service apprentice Jonas Hari has served guests on a gourmet river cruise from Strasbourg to Basel. The warmth is genuine – service staff speak of the “familienbetrieb” atmosphere that makes the long hours worthwhile.

Beyond the Stuba, the Bistro offers a more casual take on the same philosophy, recognised with a Bib Gourmand for its value. And once a year, the Alpenblick hosts a “Gourmet-Metzgete” – a traditional butcher’s feast reimagined with the kitchen’s signature creativity. It is a local institution, booking out quickly.
