The story
The Inzlinger Wasserschloss is a historic water castle in Inzlingen, just outside Basel, where the Beha family has been running a restaurant and guesthouse since 1978. Today, the second generation—sisters Simone and Stephanie Beha—brings a fresh, modern perspective to the family tradition.
Simone Beha, who trained at Freiburg’s renowned Colombi Hotel and honed her craft at prestigious establishments like the Speisemeisterei in Stuttgart, the Hotel Post in Lech am Arlberg, and Villa Giustinian in Italy, now leads the kitchen. Her plates are described as lovingly arranged, reflecting the diverse influences she has gathered. Stephanie Beha, a trained hotel manager with experience from the Excelsior Hotel in Cologne to the Miami Beach Ocean Resort, the Bayerischer Hof in Munich, and the Hotel Les Trois Rois in Basel, oversees the front of house, ensuring a warm and attentive welcome.
The restaurant serves classic cuisine, rooted in French and regional traditions, presented with a contemporary touch. Seasonal specialties, such as the Breton-themed weeks featuring fresh seafood, appear regularly. The atmosphere combines the castle’s historic setting with a light, invigorated energy. This combination of heritage and evolution has earned the restaurant a Michelin Recommended distinction for 2026, a mark of consistent quality in a region known for its refined dining.
