The story
For over 120 years, the Rührberger Hof has been a fixture in Grenzach-Wyhlen, just outside Basel. Since 1902, this family-run establishment has been a place where classic cuisine and warm hospitality converge. Today, brothers Felix and Christoph Düster carry the torch in the fourth generation, supported by their parents, whose experience and warmth contribute to the family spirit of the house.
The brothers describe their cooking as a joint creation, infused with devotion, experience, and creativity. Every dish is an expression of care, a joy for the craft, and a love for detail. This approach to classic cuisine has not gone unnoticed. The Rührberger Hof has been recognized with a Michelin Bib Gourmand, an award that celebrates good quality, good value cooking. It’s a fitting nod to a kitchen that prioritizes substance and skill over flash.
The restaurant is set idyllically in a quiet village at the edge of the forest, offering a sense of rural calm while remaining close to Basel. The dining spaces reflect this versatility: a main hall for up to 70 guests, a winter garden for 40, a smaller room for 20, and a private salon for 30. Whether it’s a family meal or a catered event, the setting is both spacious and intimate.
Felix and Christoph Düster work as a tight-knit team, their brotherly bond evident in their seamless collaboration. For them, hospitality is a calling pursued with enthusiasm and commitment. The Rührberger Hof is a place where the past meets the present, and where a meal is more than just food—it’s a tradition, shared.
